One-vehicle crash in New Orleans, La – On January 26, 2013, men of Troop L from the Louisiana State Police Troop investigated a one-car accident that caused the death of a Covington woman. The mishap took place at about 4:00 o’clock last Saturday at 12 Interstate located 1.5 miles east of Highway 1088. The victim was identified 24-years-old Kristan Fauntleroy..
According to the police, Fauntleroy was driving a pickup east on Interstate 12 when for unknown reason, the truck veered to the left and into the median. Fauntleroy tried to make a correction by turning right wise but instead the pickup continued its counter-clockwise direction as it ran towards the lanes on the east and swerved off to the right side of the road. The pickup hit a tree at the left side before it finally halted.
St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office confirmed that Fauntleroy expired on the scene. She had her one-year-old daughter with her in the pickup. It was fortunate that the child who accompanied her in the pickup received only minor injuries. Both were delivered to New Orleans University Hospital for treatment. Mother and daughter were wearing seatbelts.
Investigators did not consider alcohol as a factor involved in the crash but Fauntleroy underwent a toxicology examination but the result is still pending.
