North Bergen — The public’s help is sought by the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office in its investigation of a hit-and-run mishap that critically injured a boy and his older brother last Friday evening.

Two brothers, identified as Michael Viruet, age 20, and his brother Adrian, age 11 who are living in Union City were struck by a hit-and-run driver in New Jersey. They were transported to the hospital in critical condition after being hit by Nissan red Rouge that swerved onto a curb where the two were walking in North Bergen. According to a fund-raising website set up by a family member. both have been operated and one brother is expected to lose a leg.

Sheriff Frank Schillari said authorities are now on the lookout for a tinted window red Nissan that struck the brothers as they left a movie theater on Kennedy Boulevard around 9:50 o’clock Friday evening.

After the crush, the vehicle left the scene, but police said it was easy to recognize the vehicle as it left behind the scene a damaged front passenger-side fender, a headlight and a passenger side mirror.

Schillari said that the duo both residents of Union City, are in critical condition as of Saturday afternoon.

Schillari reported that the younger victim was thrown into the air by the crash and was skewered on the spike of an iron fence. First, he was treated at Medical Center of Jersey City where his older brother was also treated; but later, he was transferred to the pediatric surgery unit at University Medical Center of Hackensack.

The two brothers were walking home from a movie with their younger sister, Mileen Viruet, age 15 and she recounted to the authorities the Nissan vehicle nearly hit her.

Schillari said that the vehicle was last seen traveling towards the 21st Street and Kennedy Blvd. in North Bergen. Investigators were inspecting the left-over pieces from the car and will be looking at surveillance camera footage in the area.

Authorities are asking witnesses to the crash or anyone with information on the whereabouts of the crash-damaged Nissan to contact the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office.

Police continued their search for a driver who ran away from the scene of an accident that critically injured two brothers after they left a movie theater in New Jersey.

Police confirmed that 20-years-old Michael Viruet and his younger brother, 11-years-old Adrian residing in Union City, were on their way home after watching a film in Columbia Park Theater in North Bergen at about 10:00 o’clock Friday evening when Nissan Rouge swerved onto the curb and hit them both; then the vehicle fled from the scene.

Leaving the boys seriously injured, their father is hoping for justice so that the person responsible for the crime will receive his due.
